Monique Ryan: Halifax, NS
Class Descriptions: Beginner Bellydance: Feminine and sensual, bellydance is a great workout that is suitable for all ages and body types. Bellydance tones the abdominal muscles, encourages good posture, improves flexibility, and inspires women to find beauty and power within their body. The style of bellydance taught in this class will be tribal fusion bellydance. It is based on Middle Eastern dance, but it often incorporates elements of Indian, hip hop and interpretive dance. Emphasis will be on isolations, movements, and posture at the beginner level. No previous dance experience necessary. There will be a simple choreography taught by the end of the session. Tribal Fusion Bellydance Level 2: The next level after beginner bellydance. Emphasis will be on posture, perfecting and combining movements learned at the beginner level, adding fusion of other dance styles, and increasing flexibility, tone, and strength. There will also be new moves and a new choreography! Bellydance Bootcamp Drills: Be prepared to sweat! This upbeat multi-level bellydance class is for students who already have some bellydance experience. This is a bellydance technique class where movements are drilled to increase muscle memory and make your dancing fluid and snake-like, or sharp and powerful. Fun combinations as well as a great shimmy and layering section each class will ensure that all levels are challenged. Performance Level Bellydance: This class is reserved for students who have been practicing for a number of years. Watch for upcoming performances in 2010. Hula Hoop Fitness: Join this energetic class for a great cardio workout. Hooping is fun, anti-stress and boosts metabolism! Burn 400-600 calories in a one-hour class and learn tricks to keep it fun and interesting. Hula Hoop Level 2: For people who have previously taken hula hoop fitness, or who already have hooping skills. This class involves lots of hoop tricks and moves for experienced hoopers who like to keep learning.
